VelaShape™ treats both the deeper tissue and the upper layers of the skin. This results in a measurable reduction in fat layers, circumference and appearance of cellulite. By using a gentle suction to assure contact with the skin and tissue. It then applies light and radio frequency to heat up fat cells, breaking them apart, causing lipolysis, and sending them to the lymph nodes for the body to dispose of naturally. VelaShape™ also uses suction to gently smooth the skin during treatment so the light and radio frequency are delivered uniformly. How much improvement can I expect from VelaShape™?

100% of the patients in the FDA studies demonstrated improvement in cellulite appearance as well as reduction in circumference. Average improvement for all patients on the appearance of cellulite was 65%. Circumference of the thigh has been found to decrease by 1-2 inches in most cases, and all patients reported feeling skin contraction as a result of the treatment.

What's a VelaShape™ treatment like?

The aesthetician will pass the VelaShape™ hand piece over the area with the cellulite. This may be repeated a number of times. You will feel the massaging action of the suction and possibly some warmth as the radio frequency penetrates to the fat layer in your skin. Most patients actually enjoy the treatment. Some patients report a mild tingling and a light pinching sensation, but most find the procedure similar to a massage. On occasion, some mild bruising can occur.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments varies for each individual, but typically a series of 6, performed once a week for 6 weeks, offers measurable as well as visual improvement. Each treatment generally takes about 45 minutes.

How is VelaShape™ different from other cellulite machines?

Other types of cellulite reduction equipment offered only massage and suction, rendering it far less effective. These suction machines were capable of causing a temporary improvement of the appearance of cellulite, but minimal changes were seen. Since the infrared light and radio frequency of VelaShape™ actually heat the fat cells, the effect is one of dispersal and removal of the cells - not simply a breaking up of some of the hardened tissue.

Is there downtime?

No. Syneron's VelaShape™ requires no time "off". You may return to your regular activities immediately. There is the possibility of mild bruises, so timing may be important on the first treatment. But, as most people do not bruise, it is essentially a no “downtime” procedure.
